Four employees celebrated their retirement before the June 11 Wiscasset school committee meeting. Donna Barnes, art teacher, is retiring after 45 years; Cindy Rines, kitchen and nutrition employee, retired after 22 years, Pat Watts, curriculum coordinator, is retiring after seven years, and French teacher Irene Marchenay, who was not at the reception, retired after three years.

Retirees were presented with flowers, plaques and monogrammed tote bags. Cake and drinks were served.

Lynn Pelletier, Wiscasset Elementary School nurse, and educational technician II Ashley Major resigned. Teachers Adrian Fraire, for high school social studies,  and Chaya Burton, for high school science, were hired.

During the meeting, committee members agreed to a summer garage sale to dispose of materials. Students who help will earn some of the proceeds for their classes.

An application for possible programming for a new middle school career and technical education program was approved. The program would have rotating focus areas including carpentry, early childhood education, how mechanics work, and the hospitality industry.
