St. Philip’s summer happenings

Tue, 06/26/2018 - 7:30am

St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset, is readying its 66th Strawberry Festival for Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Grounds are being clipped; craft tables set up; hot dogs and fixings purchased; strawberries picked, cleaned and crushed; biscuits baked: all in anticipation of a happy day to share with locals and visitors alike. Strawberries signal the beginning of summer in many minds and hearts.  Consider dropping by for a shortcake and staying to taking in the other activities.  The Bargain Basement is open for incredible deal shopping.  A pie auction will happen inside at noon, followed by a Zumba dance outside at 1, with live music throughout the day.

Hot on the heels of the Strawberry Festival, St. Philip’s will be mounting two bean and casserole suppers on Mondays, July 16 and 30. One of the church’s long popular fish chowder suppers will happen on Aug. 13.  The hours for all of the dinners will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with the charge by donation. All proceeds go to support the church and its missions of community outreach. For more  information, call 882-7184.
