WARREN (7/27/18) – As of Friday, July 27, Sydney Faulkingham, of Alna, remains in critical condition at Maine Medical Center, according to the hospital’s media spokesperson.

Due to the seriousness of those injuries, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office investigation of the Saturday, July 21 three-vehicle accident at Atlantic Highway and North Pond Road continues, according to Patrol Administrator Patrick Polky.

The other three people involved in the crash have already been treated and released from area hospitals, he said.

WARREN (7/22/18) – On July 21, at approximately 2:55 p.m., The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Warren Fire Department, Waldoboro, and Warren Ambulance Services responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 1 and the North Pond Road in Warren.

Forest and Sydney Faulkingham, both aged 69 and of Alna, were waiting to make a left turn onto North Pond Road from the north bound lane of Route 1, in their red 2010 Toyota Corolla, when the car was struck by another vehicle.

Brennan Harris, 17, was driving a red 2017 Chevy Malibu northbound on Route 1 and did not see the Faulkingham vehicle had stopped, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Harris’ vehicle struck the Faulkingham vehicle, sending it across the center line into the path of a southbound Route 1 maroon 2018 Subaru Outback occupied by Maria, 67, and Joseph, 66, Ditzel.

Harris’s Malibu then collided with the Faulkingham’s car.

Sydney Faulkingham suffered serious injuries and was transported via LifeFlight from Warren, according to the news release. Waldoboro and Warren EMS transported Harris, Maria Ditzel and Harris’ passenger, Simon Turner, 18.

Knox County Regional Communications Center coordinated all aspects of the emergency response.

Oyster River Towing towed all three vehicles.

The crash is being reconstructed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and is still under investigation.

WARREN – A LifeFlight helicopter stationed in Lewiston touched down behind the Warren Town Office, Saturday, July 21 following a three-vehicle accident on Route 1.

Just before 3 p.m., Warren responders, and Knox County Sheriff’s officers were called to the intersection of North Pond Road and Atlantic Highway (Route 1) where at least three individuals required transport to area hospitals.

Initial reports were that one of the vehicles was hit head-on and another was T-boned in the accident.

From the south side of Route 1, traffic was diverted across Route 90 and Oyster River Road.

The LifeFlight crew spent several minutes assessing two patients inside a Warren ambulance before one of the patients was transferred to a Thomaston ambulance. Both rigs then proceeded to hospitals at emergency status. The LifeFlight crew remained inside the Warren ambulance, and the pilot of the helicopter picked them up at the hospital.
