Wiscasset selectmen to meet July 9, 23

A Wiscasset select board reduced by illness and family matters Tuesday voted to avoid the July 4 week and instead meet July 9 and 23. With members Kim Andersson and Ben Rines Jr. absent, the board agreed to wait until the next meeting before voting on a matter of the sale of town-owned property discussed in executive session.

Selectmen let Harbor Master Ray Soule set a price, rather than taking bids, for mooring blocks the town has acquired. The board let Town Manager John O’Connell open bids for the wastewater treatment plant that had been scheduled to be opened in public session on July 2. O’Connell will open a brief session to open the bids, then turn them over to the selectmen at the July 9 meeting.

O’Connell’s call to the town attorney regarding the Pinkham property, where an illegal junkyard has been in operation for many years, was not returned. Chair Judy Colby said it appeared to her a cleanup was underway.

Selectmen approved business licenses for Nicole Grassi-Normand, DBA The Salty Dog Maine LLC; and Marianne Barry, DBA Old and Everlasting. The Pier Beer application for a business and liquor license was withdrawn for this season, since the applicant was not getting timely information from state agencies.

The board authorized O’Connell to renew the animal control contract with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
