Register for Heartwood’s summer camp

Wed, 03/13/2019 - 7:15am
Registration is open for Heartwood’s 17th session of summer camp for students entering grades 3-12, running July 16-25.

Heartwood’s theater camps teach performance skills and promote student confidence both on and off the stage, with a fundamental spirit of ensemble. Scholarships are available upon request, thanks to the help of many local business donations and grant support.

“Kids Camp” is a popular 8-day program exploring the areas of storytelling, stage combat, improvisation, dance/mime/movement, mask and commedia, designed specifically for students entering grades 3-8.  No prior experience necessary.

For middle school students with some previous theater experience, and high school students, the 8-day “Intensives Camp” focuses on the areas of dance/mime/movement, scene work, stage combat, classic/poetic language, improvisation, mask and commedia.

All students will work with a diverse and professional staff of five: Griff Braley, Heartwood’s Artistic Director and Lincoln Academy drama teacher; Karen Montanaro, mime/dance artist and teacher; Mark Bedell, certified fight master and professional stuntman/fight choreographer; Stephen Shore, professional actor and certified fight instructor; Helena Farhi, professional actress and Youth Theater educator.

Many sponsors make Heartwood’s youth programming possible, including Heartwood’s Season Sponsors, Bath Savings Institution & Granite Hill Estates, Season Youth Sponsor, Damariscotta Hardware, Camp Sponsor Carl. M. P. Larrabee Insurance, and Camp Snacks Sponsors – Rising Tide and Hannaford.

Full details and registration forms are available on Heartwood’s website at   www.heartwoodtheater.org, by emailing info@heartwoodtheater.org, or by phoning 563-1373.
