Secondhand Book Shop to have Early Bird sale Nov. 4

Tue, 10/31/2017 - 7:15am

The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in Damariscotta will have a special sale during Early Bird festivities, the first time it has participated in the popular downtown celebration.

Between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Nov. 4, everything in the shop will be on sale at half price. This includes hard-cover and paperback books for adults and children, music CDs, DVDs, movies on videotape, audiobooks, and puzzles.

“We have thousands of books in dozens of categories, and plenty of other items that will help customers get a good start on holiday shopping,” says Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop. “Our collections of cookbooks and craft books will appeal to people who prepare holiday meals and make their own gifts and decorations.”

The bookshop is located on the waterfront, at 17 Backstreet Landing, downtown Damariscotta, just off Elm Street, behind Elm Street Plaza.

Regular operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday nights until 7.

A major source of funding for Skidompha Public Library, the book shop — “selling good books for a great cause” for almost 50 years — is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers. All items are donated and all funds support the library. Donations are accepted whenever a volunteer is at the shop.

For more information, phone the shop at 563-7807, or visit its page on the library’s website, skidompha.org.
