LincolnHealth is pleased to announce that Ross J. Feller, MD, FAAOS has joined its orthopedics team. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in hand surgery, Dr. Feller’s diverse clinical interests include carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, hand, wrist and forearm fractures, hand and wrist arthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, flexor and extensor tendon injuries, microsurgery involving peripheral nerves, upper extremity tendon transfers and post-traumatic reconstruction, rheumatoid arthritis, sports injuries and other conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity. He is the only hand surgeon in Maine that specializes in pediatric congenital hand deformity and cerebral palsy of the hand and upper extremity. He also travels throughout the world to provide hand surgery outreach services in developing nations such as Bolivia and Bhutan.

Prior to joining LincolnHealth, Dr. Feller was a part of the Maine Medical Partners team of orthopedic surgeons in Portland, where he was responsible for building Maine Medical Center’s Hand & Wrist Surgery service. “I am excited to bring this experience directly to the Midcoast region, while continuing to serve the entire state of Maine,” he said.

Dr. Feller is a graduate of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University, where he also was an orthopedic surgery resident. He has completed fellowships in orthopedic trauma at Brown University as well as an additional fellowship at the University of Utah, focusing on hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery.

“The relationship between physician and patient is a sacred one. I always see my interaction with a patient as an active conversation, and I strive to involve each person in their own care,’’ Feller said. “It is very important for me to take into account a patient’s functional needs, goals and expectations. In this way, we are able to come to decisions together. This inevitably leads to patient empowerment, improved satisfaction and better overall results.”

In his spare time, Dr. Feller loves to ski, cook and explore the islands of coastal Maine. His greatest enjoyment comes from spending time with family including his wife Callie, dog named Summit, and the more recent addition of their first son, Jude. His brother, Dr. Reid Feller, also joined LincolnHealth this fall as a physician with Lincoln Medical Partners Ophthalmology. Together, they are living out a childhood dream of working and practicing alongside each other.
