Wiscasset plans ‘Spirit of Giving’

Applications close Nov. 15
Wed, 11/02/2016 - 8:00am

Through the efforts of community businesses, organizations and individuals, the town of Wiscasset announces its Spirit of Giving holiday program, designed to assist parents in fulfilling their children’s holiday needs and wishes.

Families seeking assistance are asked to complete an application, which is now available at the town office. The application can also be downloaded at www.wiscasset .org. Parents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. All applicants must be Wiscasset residents.

In an effort to assist more families, wish requests should be in a reasonable price range. This year parents can request for their children up two needs and two wishes. No electronic items will be considered. All applications are due at the town office no later than Nov. 18.

Parents will pick up gifts on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, gifts will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Once the applications are received, tree tags will be made from each child’s “wish list” and placed on giving-trees at the town office, Ames Supply and the Wiscasset Community Center. Any business, organization or individual that would like to help by taking tags from a giving-tree may do so at any location. All purchased, unwrapped gifts must be returned to any of the collection spots by Friday, Dec. 2.

For information on how to adopt an entire family for the program, contact Kathy Onorato at the town office, 882-8200 ext. 103 or Judy Flanagan at 882-7056.
